Dear Friends,
I am very grateful that you have taken the time to visit my website. I find this to be the first step in the right
direction for building a better student community here at Gannon.
First, I'd like to tell you a little about myself. I'm from Bladensburg, Maryland, where I was recognized as a
prominent student leader in both my county and state. I was humble enough to receive recognition from County Executive
Jack Johnson and Governor Elrich for my service to my school, my community, and my church. Personally, I am the oldest
of five children and the first to attend college within my family. I recognize that you may think I am only a freshman
student, but I want to challenge you to look outside my class rank and consider what I have done in my high school and county
community and think of what I can bring to Gannon. The choice is yours, but please consider me for your next SGA president.
Second, I'd like to outline just a few things that I'd like to change around Gannon to make this a home for both you
and me. For example, I would like to have the student government more involved with the student body by encouraging
representatives and fellow executive board members to bring forward problems from their constituents. Further, I would
encourage every member to be more present and active among their peers to bring notice to problems and in turn, help change
the negatives to positives.
I'd like to work with the current junior class and their "bus-project" to make sure that the project is a success and
provides to the needs of the students. I would certainly encourage the new bus, when it arrives next fall, to travel
to and from the airport to pick up students who travel to and from Gannon.
I would like to continue efforts that began two years ago to build stronger relationships with neighboring Mercyhurst,
Edinboro, and Penn State Behrend in order to provide healthy social programs for students to attend and particpate in.
I see this as an opportunity of outreach and community building among college students.
I would like to continue efforts in working with the Ohio-based company, gamesnake.com, to encourage intercollegiate
intermurals with schools like Mercyhurst, Behrend, and Edinboro. This online-gaming community would provide students
an opportunity to network in a friendly and athletic competition.
These are just a few ideas of what I would like to do here at Gannon as your next SGA President. However, I still
want to hear from you, the voters, just what it is you want from Gannon. Lower tuition? Better food? Better
health center hours? Earlier REC Center hours? Anything that is important to you, I want to hear it and support
it, in whatever role I play during my time at Gannon.
Anything that concerns you, I'm going to live with and work towards the next three years.
Please e-mail me at the link below. As always, I thank you for the time you have spent visiting my web site and
learning more about what I can do for you. God Bless and thank you again!
Sincerely,
Jorge A. Bustamante
